KUCHING: Applications are now open for the HackWknd – Agrofest, a Sarawak based tech innovation competition slated to run from November 10 to 29, 2019. Competitors are to submit a tech based solution for a problem from four categories: e-commerce, manufacturing industry 4.0, tourism and agriculture. In coordination with Sarawak Agrofest, the event is looking to help catalyse the Sarawakian agriculture industry to be the regional leader in the industry. 


The HackWknd by Sarawak Multimedia Authority is a program aimed to nurture creative innovation amongst Malaysians with the help of the latest technologies from the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) spectrum. In this edition, the program focuses on improving agriculture production and looks to solve food scarcity in Sarawak with a conscious effort to promote sustainable development.

The HackWknd Agrofest is now open to all members of the public, while aimed at young talents with bright ideas. Registration and submissions are online, which opens up the competition to practically anywhere in Malaysia with an internet connection.

Teams of 2 to 4 are welcomed to apply. Participants may register their team and download the infopack at www.founders.my/hackwknd. Project submissions will open 1 week prior to the deadline which will be on 25th November 2019. 

The top 10 teams selected will be flown to Kuching to pitch their projects at the annual Sarawak Agrofest 2019. From the 10, three winners will walk away with RM5000, RM3000 and RM1500 cash prizes respectively. The remaining teams will receive RM 1000 each as a consolation prize for their achievement.


The Programme is held at Celebration square, Stadium Sarawak, Kuching in conjunction with Sarawak Agrofest  on 29th November to 1st December 2019.
